I have paypal setup and it I am getting deposits in my account when I test. However, when I look at the transaction information in Paypal the product is Item #2, Order #2 and the value - how can I pass the course name along to paypal?

If your wanted option is the actual PayPal integration with some fixes and improvements, you'll have to hire a developer for that.

Not true, paypal is still supported, we are not planning to abandon this feature
